I am Se’Dashia Thornton
The passion for photography has been there since the age of seven.
I was that kid that would save my money up to buy the green fuji film camera from the dollar store and take all the pictures up in one day because I was having too much fun taking pictures. I would nearly pull my mother’s arm off, dragging her to the closet pharmacy that developed film cameras. I could not believe I was seeing my images in my hand. I owe my sister everything and more when she bought me my first digital camera for Christmas way back in middle school. It was a small Sony camera that could record as well! Growing up not having much you learn how to make good with what you have and I created so many visuals with it. Here we are years later, I had just graduated High school and had just finished my first semester in college. By this time I’d taken Dr. Lee’s Basic Photography class at Grambling State University and it completely changed my life. That summer I worked two jobs because I had a clear goal in mind. That summer I bought myself my very first DSLR Camera, A Canon T6i ! This camera has become my life. It has given me opportunities to travel to states I’ve never been to and it has given me gateways to meeting new people. Some people see what I do as “just taking pictures” but it’s my purpose.
Born March 16, 1999 in Shreveport, LA
-As a child I had to grow up a little early due to my father having a stroke and my mother having severe arthritis. They are my driving force for graduating and successfully learning my passion.

Senior Mass Communication Major at Grambling State University
- During my 4 years at Grambling I’ve gained a considerable amount of knowledge about my field of work from metering to the serifs in typography. From how to write news articles to the laws of communication. Also I’ve taken additional management classes to obtain additional knowledge on running a business.
As far as camera work at Grambling, I have my fair share of jobs that I’ve done. Being a camera op at sports events are fun. I’ve done football and basketball games, along with the graphics on the jumbo tron at the basketball games. One mistake I made at a football event and I will never forget. The call was made on the play, I had the camera zero’d in on the players walking off the field. All of a sudden I hear in my headset , “White Cap! White Cap! Get the white cap!” . At this point I was so confused because in my head I was thinking, “White cap?? They have helmets!” After the game he asked me about it and I said , “Mr. B, I have no clue what the white cap was.” The room started laughing. Mr. B then told me the white cap was the referee. Silly old me, not knowing football terminology, messed up the shot. Other than that, the night was fun and got asked to help run production for that year’s homecoming. I worked a Spring Fest event as well working in the producer room and as a camera utility. This opportunity gave the blessings to be in the presents of celebrities like Jasmine Sullivan and Teyana Taylor.
Fall 2019 I worked as a photographer, videographer, and video editor on Grambling’s World Famed Tiger Marching Band. This opportunity I was most grateful for because It took me places I thought I’d never get to travel to. At last year’s Bayou Classic, those two videos that played for Grambling’s Band, I made those. Words could not explain how I felt when they told me they would play on the jumbo screen. Silly enough, I was starving and decided to go eat the second they decided to play my videos. I missed the entire first one. My coworker was running to come get me and told me the videos were playing. I caught the last 30 seconds of it and it was the best 30 seconds of my life.
At Grambling, I have been a member of the Chamber Orchestra Group . I have been first chair since my Junior year in college.
I have been playing the violin since 6th grade.
I have been taught under the directions of Mrs. Rachael Provenza and Mr. Ye Tao.
This may sound odd but the last significant thing about me is my love for anime. That is the inspiration behind my logo design and package styles. Anime or manga is certain style of art and I find it so entertaining. I watch it nearly everyday so why not incorporate two of my favorite things together.
